For the record: I don't give a damn about Kanye West or Taylor Swift, so this rant was not in defense of anyone.

i agree, this whole thing has been blown way out of proportion, all it is are a bunch of 13 year old kids fighting over nothing.
its not even like taylor swift is a good artist anyway...

I'm not really a fan of her, but come on, what did Taylor do to deserve being called a "self-righteous little pussy"? It's her fans that started the whole team Taylor thing and made a big deal about it. Sure she just stood there, but I'm sure she was in shock with what was happening. It's easy to talk big when you're seating at home and aren't in the public eye, but who really knows how you'd act in that same situation.

And personally I don't see what's so special about Beyonce's video. It deserved the choreography award, but really, as a video it's not that interesting.

Actually, I don't like any of the video nominations; that wasn't my point. The whole "self-righteous pussy" thing is based on her reaction: I realize not everyone would be able to laugh off something like that, but A) She's supposed to be a performer, and B) There are grey shades between standing there, petrified, and being confident with herself and moving on.

I think her reaction was whimpy, especially considering she's professional singer, and self-righteous, because she acted as though she deserved the award. Maybe she did and maybe she didn't, but it is certainly self-righteous to think that highly of your own music video: This is the borderline between pride and self-centeredness: She should definitely take pride in her music, but not act as though it deserves reward. She is a bad sport, and people are rewarding her for it, just because she was the underdog in a shitty situation. That bothers me.

To be honest, I don't think all people would react to someone with the status of Kanye West with a "laugh" if they thought they still deserved the award. Taylor is just a 19 year old girl, and if it had been me I probably would have walked off crying. I don't think she reacted "self-righteous" at all. It was a bit moment for her, and Kanye spoiled it.

seriously, if a white person were to say that about another white person, it would offended lots of african-americans (cause i don't think alot of people would really care oustide of america), but they seem to have immunity, and if that seems like a racist comment, then the world is seriously fucked up.

This is a good point, and it makes me realize how much my argument loops around: The whole issue is that her moment was spoiled, but I don't think she should have let him spoil it. CURSE YOU, LOGIC FLAWS!

Not true: If a white person had done the same thing as Kanye, no one would think it was race-oriented. This isn't the 1800s. Kanye is one of the few people who still thinks there's a significant difference between white and black people, and that's his problem, but I don't think anyone should turn this into a race issue. Kanye said nothing racist: The woman he was defended just happened to be black: There is no correlation.

I dont think it was a race issue either- what Kanye did was simply poor manners - completely inappropriate. When someone with the status of Kanye comes out and impliedly says you shouldn't have won because someone else made a better video, there is not a huge amount Taylor could have done. She's just a young girl and I'm sure her ego isn't bulletproof (although this is mere speculation on my part)

I don't really agree with what you're saying. When did she act as though she deserved the award or being a bad sport? I honestly know little about Taylor Swift, I saw one of her videos on tv and that's all. I saw her being interviewed during the preshow and she seemed really excited to be there and honored to be nominated but didn't expect to win this. So, I don't know, maybe I missed something but I don't really get how she is self-centered etc but I think it's harsh to say that she's a bad sport...

Not being biased, cause I could care less about either of their music, but that was no way for Kanye to talk to a 19 year old girl like that. She's just started in the music business, so I'm not surprised about her reaction. Honestly, I'd probably do the same thing, maybe even start crying, not knowing what to do. And it's probably a huge deal for Taylor Swift and her fans. Almost any other performer would probably do the same thing, I'm sure. NO E-DRAMA, just saying what I think. :)

In the middle of her speech, Kanye West came up on stage, took the mic from her and told everyone that Beyonce should have won. Then promptly gave back the mic to Taylor as the crowd booed him off, leaving her standing there like a complete idiot. Poor girl.
